Determined both to achieve international fame and end the centuries of self-imposed vampire silence, Lestat takes command of the band now renamed "The Vampire Lestat" and pens his own autobiography. Akasha takes Lestat to other cities and repeats the killings but Lestat doesn't join in this time. I go from room to room slaughtering them as I did the wolves. Lestat's relationships with his father and brothers are bad - he tells his mother "I dream sometimes that I might kill them all. He has a short narrow nose, and a mouth that is well shaped, but has always been slightly large for his face.

The concert goes pretty well until the end where vampires start being killed off by an unseen force. But Nicolas rejects Lestat and sinks into insanity. Nicki begins playing the violin and soon the other vampires who Lestat gave the theatre to arrive and begin singing and dancing as Nicki plays the violin and it is Nicki who gives it the name "Theatre of the Vampires". Lestat has dreams of two red-haired twins but forgets it soon after. This version of events, however, is also refuted by Lestat, who made no mention of contact with Louis in that era, though he had been visited by Armand and freely admits that his memory of this period is fragmented.

I saw flames that outshone the lamps of heaven. Two of those things happened fairly quickly, and I reread the rest of the book almost totally unspoiled. Claudia dies from sun exposure while Louis is held captive by Armand and his followers. Lestat also frequently hunts evildoers instead of feeding from innocent victims, although he does not always abide by this rule. He enjoys performing on stage, which he does as both a mortal actor in ParisFrance and a vampire in his rock band called The Vampire Lestat, that he forms with a group of humans in the s.

The Vampire Lestat book

The book is told in first person, by de Lioncourt, and no justification he makes for himself comes anywhere close to a gavel.

Akasha and Enkil rest inanimate, appearing as living statues, a sight which horrifies Lestat. Armand drinks Lestat's blood and whilst Lestat himself doesn't respond something pushes Armand away.

All Rights Reserved. Lestat is now in charge of all the vampires and he makes his decisions like he has all the time in the world, an occupational hazard for immortal beings.

Blood Communion Review: New Anne Rice Vampire Chronicles Book Lets Off Lestat

The car is followed by vampires who are annoyed at Lestat causing the car to crash. But his flight over the Pacific, those few paragraphs describing how he occasionally falls asleep and is held aloft by forces greater than himself, is where he is at his most celestial.

After Lestat ate the brain of Mekare, he was infused with the spirit of Amel and became the Host of the Sacred Core, effectively making himself the most powerful vampire on the planet.

Though Louis claims that Lestat made him into a vampire because Lestat merely wanted his fortune, Lestat refutes these claims in the following novel.

Lestat is portrayed in the books as being bisexual[4] [5] and has male and female lovers as both a vampire and a mortal. I go from room to room slaughtering them as I did the wolves. I kill my father and my brothers in the dream.

Although he is illiterate as a mortal man, he learns to read and loves literature as a vampire. Lestat's dying mother, Gabrielleencourages Lestat to start a friendship with Nicolas and later she encourages Lestat to leave with Nicolas, who Lestat calls Nicki, and go to Paris, as she wants to die knowing her son is free.

Share via Email Another bite … Tom Cruise as Lestat in the film of Interview with the Vampire Lestat, the blood-sucking anti-hero who made his first appearance in Interview with the Vampire almost 40 years ago and was played by Tom Cruise in the film, is set to return, author Anne Rice has announced.

Anne Rice's second book in The Vampire Chronicles follows Lestat through the ages as he conducts his own search for his origins and to find meaning in what has happened to him.

Lestat's fingernails like those of all vampires in The Vampire Chronicles look like they are made of glass. Akasha kills this vampire and then proceeds to start killing all the men in the temple. With Claudia, Lestat manages to keep Louis with him. The vampire Lestat recounts his mortal and immortal history as he creates emotional turmoil in his wake.Rice’s new book, Prince Lestat, although technically the 13th book in the series, is very much a sequel to Queen of the Damned, both literally in terms of its plot, and in the way it’s structured.
